For A4A members, here's a holiday gift: free IAR CE! That's right, free IAR CE now comes with Advisors4Advisors (A4A) membership ($60/qtr.).
A4A members earn CE/CPE credits fulfilling CFP, CIMA and CPA annual requirements. Now you also get free IAR CE. If you're not a CFP or CPA and need IAR CE, it is not free but offered at deep discount. Here's what to know about IAR CE classes for 2025.
Deep Discount on IAR CE. A4A IAR CE classes are regularly priced at $29.99 per class. That's $360 for 12 IAR CE classes needed to fulfill NASAA IAR CE requirements annually. As a member of A4A, you pay $240 over a year ($60/qtr.) -- a deep discount on IAR CE -- and you can earn much more than 12 credits. Moreover, in addition to IAR CE, A4A membership also earns you CE/CPE credit as a CFP and CPA.
Practice-minded IAR CE. IA reps are required by NASAA to earn six “Practice or Product” credits and six “Ethics” credits. A4A membership is designed to fulfill NASAA's IAR CE requirements. Fritz Meyer’s monthly financial economic updates, whether you attend live or replay a webinar on-demand, meet the Practice requirement. Meanwhile, a series of six Ethics classes for 2025 kick off with, “IAR Performance Advertising,” exemplifies the practical educational content that's our specialty in delivering as IAR CE.
Enter CRD Number. To start earning IAR CE credit for classes you complete, you must enter your CRD number into your account profile when you sign up for membership, or add it to your account profile later. CFP, CIMA, or CPA license numbers must also be entered into your A4A account profile. If you need to report to more than four regulators, please email us at [email protected].
About IAR CE. IAR CE is regulated by the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA). NASAA, a 105-year old regulatory institution, is different from CFP Board, IWI and NASBA and other regulators of financial professional credentials. NASAA regulates more investment advisers than CFP Board and NASBA combined. More important, NASAA musters the resources of government. As a not-for-profit organization for state securities regulators, NASAA plays a special role in governance of U.S. capitalism. NASAA promulgates model rules that are adopted by states, allowing states to adopt laws without reinventing rules for regulating sales of investments and advice.
Since 2022, in a time of strong anti-regulation sentiment, NASAA’s IAR CE model rule has been implemented in 22 states, including California, Florida and other populous states. NASAA's IAR CE requirements are stiff enough to root out many unserious and some crooked IARs.
In one important way, NASAA CE requirements are tougher than those of NASBA, CFP Board, IWI and other credentialling organizations: Unlike NASBA, IWI, and CFP Board, NASAA does not allow IARs to earn CE credit for attending webinars -- by far the most popular education delivery method with CFP, CPA and other financial professionals. While CFP Board awards 1 credit for attending a live class for 50 minutes and NASBA requires CPAs respond to three polls during a webinar, NASAA requires IARs pass a 10-question multiple-choice exam with a grade of at least 70%.
